Doesn't time fly when your having fun? The last four weeks have been amazing! I've done so much already and have lot's more to do before placement commences. I cannot wait :) The last three weeks have been focused on theory, we have had to learn loads of the body systems and memorise them! I won't lie, it has been hard, my mind isnt properly in study mode after the summer holidays but i am starting a study time table and have been reading lots. We have had an assignment already which wasn't very big but I wanted mine to be perfect and revised it about 10 times. People say you shouldn't leave it until the last moment but my essays seem to be better when i do it that way LOL. The girls on my course are great and I've made some great friends already!
We have completed our basic life support training which was great fun. I didnt think i would remember it but I do and im so proud of myself! We also have our lifting and handling training very soon and trust induction day which i cannot wait for. The girls at my hospital are lovely and I know we will be a great support to each other.
Well that's it for now, there is lot's more to say but i'm kinda in a rush! will write again soon! x

So much to do so little time!
I think the title of this post is self-explainatory. I have so much to do and only 13 days to do it! I still haven't sent my NHS bursary forms away- I havent got a passport or any other of the photo i.d that they require so can't do anything at the moment and I can't get i.d until my verifier gets in touch and tells me when they are available to sign the forms! I probably won't get any money until December now and will have to live of my student finance loan which won't be much. I wish the world didn't revolve around money! I also desperately need to get some new clothes but travelling to university is more important!
Enrolled online yesterday to my student portal! It is all getting very real now! I found out that we are all going to have a breakfast together on our first day which will be nice!! I want to know how many days per week we are going to be in as well but the details are not online yet!! :(

14 days! OMG
So I have 20 days until I'm a student midwife. To say I'm excited and nervous would be an understatement! I've been waiting for this moment for so long! When university's told me that I would not get into Midwifery as it was so competitive and the fact I had no A levels and no experience would go against me I'm so glad I wasn't persuaded like some of my friends to change my mind. Some of them wanted to do childrens nursing and midwifery but followed the uni's advice and now they are regretting it.
I'm very scared of all the responsibility I will have- not so much when I'm a student but when I qualify. Anything goes wrong and it's on my shoulders! I feel so young to have that responsibility. I'm scared I'm not academic enough to complete the degree. I'm scared I will forget important things when I'm on the ward and that I won't be able to pronounce certain words.
Autumn feels like it's coming again, I cannot wait for scarves, boots, fluffy blankets and Halloween! I'm defo making some toffee apples this year and skull chocolates covered in glitter....yuuummmm!
Look at these wonderful ideas!!!

Anyway enough negativity! I've been buying stationary whilst it's on special offer. I think this is my favourite sort of shopping! I still have some bits left to buy but not much!!! Ive been boring- well I call it professional and bought everything in plain white, brown and black colours! I'm growing up!!!

MyFitnessPal- wanna be my friend?
So after years of making new years resolutions to lose weight and get fit, I finally decided to do something about it and signed up for http://www.myfitnesspal.com/
This website which is FREE to use, allows you to input your current weight and height and how much you wish to lose as well as how many sessions of exercise you will take part in per week. It then tells you how many calories, protein, carbs and fat you can eat in order to lose weight, how many pounds you will lose per week and how long it will take!
If you want to lose weight but can't afford weightwatchers or the gym then this is a really good idea! You can also make friends on there to help you stay motivated. I've wanted to lose weight for ages to feel better about myself. I hate going into clothes shops and hating the way clothes fit. I also want to be fit for my midwifery training, it won't be good if I'm always out of breath on the wards!!!
If you wish to add me, my name is fun_and_fit. I feel I need to explain that name a bit more as it sounds like a name you would find on a dating site! I choose the name to reflect how I wish to be in the future, fun as in enjoying life and fit as in not feeling tired and sluggish!
I really hope I can keep this up and get to my goal weight and I'm going to stay positive and see how it goes!
Hears to losing weight!

My midwifery journey so far
Well as the title says this post is about my journey to becoming a midwife.I did have two posts already written up and published about my journey so far, however I decided to take them down for the moment as I didn't feel comfy with what I had written. Maybe one day I will have the courage to repost them but for now I will give you a simple run down of my journey so far.
I decided I wanted to be a midwife after the birth of my 7th sibling, a beautiful little girl who I adore with all my heart. At the hospital I met a wonderful newly qualified midwife who truly inspired me to follow the dream. Even though I could tell her job was hard and demanding she never failed to be calm and kind to the women in her care and I thought, this is what I want to do! Of course I had thought about midwifery as a career before but as I was quite young and home schooled I never thought I was clever enough to be able to do a degree.
After the birth of my sister I enrolled in an Access course and completed it with mainly merits and distinctions-I was quite clever after all! During my time on the Access course I also gained work experience with a community midwife in a childrens centre and shadowed a midwife at NCT antenatal classes. I applied to 5 uni's and was offered a place at a London University where I am currently waiting to commence my studying. I have just completed an occupational health check and I am waiting for my UCAS to turn unconditional.
So yeah, this is my journey so far! Hopefully this blog will be filled with happy memories after 3 years that I can look back on and reminisce about!

Beautiful Bedrooms
Lately, I have been dreaming of making my bedroom into an inspiring place that I can chill out and do uni work in. The house I live in is rented and very plain! These are the bedrooms i'm drawing inspiration from (warning some of the rooms belong to kiddies) LOL.

College done and dusted onwards bound- hopefully.
Well college is finally over and done with and I am just waiting for my graduation where I will pink up my diploma. Now It's just waiting to go on to University in September. I cannot wait but I keep thinking that something is going to go wrong. Ive worried about everything from occupational health checks, CRB and my grades. Even though I've managed to get mainly merits and distinctions on my Access course I am still worried they are not good enough. I'm also worried about Occy health in case something comes up that I wasn't aware of and even CRB's are stressing me out. I just wish I was at Uni so that I knew everything is ok. My money situation isnt helping either. I have to get a new passport before I can send off my NHS bursary forms and i got to go and get my studnt loan forms signed! It's too much!
I don't know what I'm going to do if it all goes wrong!

Student Midwife
Thinking alot about the sort of clothing I want to wear for Uni, I want to look smart but casual and not to over done. I think this shows my personality with the pretty rocks and bohemian feel whilst still being pretty simple. I will post more of the sort of looks I love soon x

D.I.Y dare!
So i'm an absolute wuss when it comes to doing anything new to my hair! I have never dyed it and hardly cut it so I have had the same style (long and straight) since I was 12. It was mainly because of a few bad experiences at the hairdressers and with homecuts, you know the kind- a bowl and blunt scissors! Yikes! Anyway I was flicking through Company magazine the other day and saw the most AMAZING hair dye job. It's known as Ombre or the cooler sounding dip dye (reminds me of tie dye) It's basically dying the ends of your hair in a olour of your choice- normally a crazy colour so that it looks tie-dye and goes from dark to light or light to dark. Here are a few examples

Totally digging this style and think im going to go for a mad colour before going to uni and then change to a ombre blonde style :)

Stone and Honey
I am really into semi precious gemstone jewellery at the moment and just had to share these beautiful necklaces by Stone and Honey made in Portland, USA.
I espically love their single crystal point necklaces such as the one below

Their agate slice necklaces are also beautiful

I want that one!
I have been looking for a biggish, pretty, versatile bag for University and stumbled upo Scaramanga via google. They sell the most DIVINE leather satchels and holdalls I have ever had the pleasure to lay eyes on. All of the bags are vintage style and handmade using traditionally tanned leather. The bags may be made from a number of different natural pieces of leather which gives each one a totally unique look.
Further more Scaramanga sources many of it's items from worldwide and local artisans and uses a fairtrade policy. Pretty, functional and fair :) what more could you want!
Scaramanga also sells vintage housewares, cloth bags, leather and sari journals check them out for more info at http://www.scaramangashop.co.uk
This one is really pretty and just about the right size for all my uni essentials such as folders, laptop, pens and books

However this is my DREAM one....better start saving my pennys!!!

Come back soon for a bger post on Uni essentials :) x

Catch up!
Well its been a few months since I last posted a blog and a lot has happened so i thought it was about time I did an update. The most important and exciting thing that has happened is I got my place at Uni to study Midwifery! So this last year at College has actually paid off! I still cannot believe it to be honest, I know there are plenty of people who have tried for years to get a place so I honestly fill privilaged to be given a chance to fulfill a dream! Of course, it hasn't been smooth running- nothing ever is in my life but thats a story for another post!
Apart from getting my place at Uni, Im also doing quite well on my course, I still have to work on time management but I'm achieving merits and even managed to get a distinction in Sociology! I am VERY pleased with this because I was home schooled from the age of 11 so and have never had proper marks or even had to take a test so every little achievement at college is a massive deal for me and proves that I can get through UNI. :)
What else? Well the new years resolutions all but went out the window, I just cant seem to juggle everything at the moment so new years resolutions are on hold. Although I really would like to lose weight before Uni just so I dont feel so lethargic as I will be on my feet all the time! No crafting has taken place either :( I feel pretty sad about this but again studying must come first. I might have some stuff to show between June and September when college finishes. I really want to make some jewellery and decorate my bedroom so no doubt some crafting will take place then:)
Oh and before I forget my mum is starting her jewellery business up again. Some bits will be handmade and others will be bought in. She just purchased some beautiful sterling silver encased gemstones and is hoping to start an etsy shop and possibly even do some jewellery parties! Its all very exciting!
Well I will try to keep this more reguarly updated but won't promise! Collegework calls!!! x

I play with dolls
Today I thought I would introduce my blythe doll- Saffron. I have had her for about 4 years now and she is my only one- for now!!!

I first heard about Blythe dolls when I was searching through flickr for vintage things, I stumbled upon this wide-eyed beauty and fell in love. The dolly I fell in love was a Kenner Blythe and I was so disappointed I found out they had stopped being manufactured back in the 70's because their big eyes scared the kiddies! A bit of googling and snooping soon led me to the thisisblythe forum where I learnt that Blythe was now being produced by Takara. I just had to have one. My mum went down to Brighton to a shop called Nastynip where she was able to get me a Stardancer Blythe for my birthday and I have been in love ever since.

Thursday relief!
Well this week was my first week back at college. I am studying access to Nursing, Midwifery and Health care studies and hope to become a Midwife. I applied for University in December and eagerly waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed for me everyone!
I am happy to be having my long weekend break as I am shattered and can finally try and get rid of this cough that has been hounding me since christmas! It also gives me a chance to catch up on homework and do some Maths revision in preparation for my exam on Wednesday.
I also want to do some crafting this weekend if im a good girl and get all my revision done, maybe make some bunting or even have ago at some patchwork. :) We shall see!

Happy New Year!
Hello, welcome to my first ever blog :) This blog has been on the to-do list for many months but what better time to do it then the beginning of a new year? Hopefully I'll keep this reguarly updated with all manner of things such as fashion, interiors, crafts, music, books and whatever else I can think of! Along with starting a blog my other new year resolutions in no particular order are:
1. Eat healthy and exercise more. This is ALWAYS on my resolution list but normally I have strict rules such as no sugar, salt or diet coke, but this time i'm simply going to limit myself with these items, hopefully this will make it easier. I do alot of walking already but I think I need to do some aerobic exercise so that I tone up as well.
2. Make more effort with my hair and skin care routine. At the moment i am a wash and go kinda girl and i also have a really bad habit of sleeping in my make-up! So this year i'm gunna make more of an effort to style my hair and also look after my skin.
3. Make my bedroom and craft room an inspiring cosy place. My room is very bland at the moment, with white walls and a cream carpet. I have a few pieces of furniture that I want to makeover and I also want to fill my room with handmade and vintage items. My craft room has the same problem but hopefully with carboot sales starting up soon I'll be able to revamp it!
5. Open an etsy shop to sell my handmade and vintage items. I have lot's of vintage treasures and I also love making jewellery so I am hoping that this year I have the time to make things to sell. I have lots of ideas already so watch this space!
Well that's my resolution list for this year, I feel very inspired at the moment so hopefully things will be accomplished! Hope you all had a great New Year's Eve, mine was spent singing along to karoke classics with my family:) However you all spent it, hope you all had a great one!
