My midwifery journey so far

Well as the title says this post is about my journey to becoming a midwife.I did have two posts already written up and published about my journey so far, however I decided to take them down for the moment as I didn't feel comfy with what I had written. Maybe one day I will have the courage to repost them but for now I will give you a simple run down of my journey so far.

I decided I wanted to be a midwife after the birth of my 7th sibling, a beautiful little girl who I adore with all my heart. At the hospital I met a wonderful newly qualified midwife who truly inspired me to follow the dream. Even though I could tell her job was hard and demanding she never failed to be calm and kind to the women in her care and I thought, this is what I want to do! Of course I had thought about midwifery as a career before but as I was quite young and home schooled I never thought I was clever enough to be able to do a degree.

After the birth of my sister I enrolled in an Access course and completed it with mainly merits and distinctions-I was quite clever after all! During my time on the Access course I also gained work experience with a community midwife in a childrens centre and shadowed a midwife at NCT antenatal classes. I applied to 5 uni's and was offered a place at a London University where I am currently waiting to commence my studying. I have just completed an occupational health check and I am waiting for my UCAS to turn unconditional.

So yeah, this is my journey so far! Hopefully this blog will be filled with happy memories after 3 years that I can look back on and reminisce about!
